Business intelligence

Gathering data does not, in itself, bring it into the realm of consciousness. It cannot, therefore, be regarded as knowledge. Many people and organizations acquire knowledge everyday but don’t seem to share it with the right people and apply it. If they did, the business as a whole would be more intelligent. The following reflects the evolution of business intelligence firstly; an organization acquires data on its customers. Used correctly, that data will enable the organization to identify the differences in its customer base. Identified correctly, the information is used to pinpoint, for example, a customer’s location, socio economic group and buying potential. If this knowledge is used within the organization and then targeted correctly. It provides business intelligence. This can be defined as the infinite number of possibilities for using and interfacing each piece of data to enhance the development of the business by attracting and maintaining customers.
