Women and Bad Breath
The most common causes of bad breaths are an infection of the gum, food intolerance and allergies, but for women in particular there is also being premenstrual and crash dieting, both of which may affect saliva flow, and saliva usually washes away the odor-producing bacteria from the mouth.
Being premenstrual causes a rise in progesterone, which can make your gums swell, trapping tiny amounts of decaying food and bacteria in the crevices where tooth meets gum, resulting in a bad taste in the mouth and may be a bad odor too. So if your symptoms are worse seven to ten days before your period, anything that balances out your progesterone levels with estrogen will help.
